Vocamus in Mourning

Vocamus Writers Community is mourning the loss of two wonderful members this week.

Bieke Stengos was one of our earliest members, helping to run the original iteration of our poetry group and authoring one of our first full-length poetry titles. She was always encouraging and supportive of her fellow writers, generous, with a gentle but determined spirit. Visitation is at Wall-Custance Funeral Home on Saturday September 19, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a memorial service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Donna McCaw was an active member of the Elora arts community for many years, leading an open-mic there in collaboration with Vocamus and authoring several books across a variety of genres. She brought a contagious enthusiasm to everything she did and provided wonderful mentorship to those around her, be they artists or activists or friends. Her memorial will be in Elora at the Elora Art centre on October 5, 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

Both gave so much to Vocamus, to the arts, and to their communities. Both will be deeply missed.
