Catherine Frid is a Guelph based writer and playwright whose produced plays include: Thistlepatch (Alumnae Theatre, 2022); What I Gave, I Have (Guelph Museums, 2019); Spend Your Kids’ Inheritance (Toronto Fringe – Patron’s Pick, 2019); Half Full (Mixed Company Theatre, school tours, 2016-17); Burying Toni (Alumnae, 2014); The Bold Canadian (Arts and Letters Club, 2013); Homegrown (SummerWorks and others, 2010/11/12); GuineaPigging (Alumnae, 2011); Dead Cat Bounce (Toronto Fringe and others 2008/10/16); and numerous short works in Canada and the United States.

Catherine also co-creates new work with communities, including: Courageous Conversations (2026), Twice the Speed of Lightning (2025); Belonging in the Township of Wellesley (2024); Two-Sided Mirror (2022-23);  Living Below the Line (2022); Sytske Then and Now (2020); AfterWhys (2016-19); Our Roots, Our Future (2017); Out of the Illusion (2015); and Our Voices: Senior Selfies (Our Voices, 2014).

Her publications include Our Voices: Senior Selfies (Art Age Publications); This Isn’t Toronto in Long Story Short, a Playwrights Canada Press 10-minute play anthology; Community with Strangers in Scenes from a Diverse World (ICWP Press); and Us and Them in Thirtysomethings: Mother-Daughter Monologues (ICWP Press).

Catherine is Artistic Director of Watercourse Theatre. She taught dramaturgy at Ryerson University’s Chang School, and has been Playwright in Residence at Mixed Company Theatre and Artist in Residence at Osgoode Hall Law School.
