J. R. (Tim) Struthers
In addition to teaching Canadian Literature full-time for over thirty-seven years at the University of Guelph from Canada Day 1985 to 31 August 2022, critic, editor, and publisher J.R. (Tim) Struthers of Guelph has edited some thirty books of theory, criticism, autobiography, short stories, and poetry, including six volumes in honour of Alice Munro. Amongst these titles are nine published by his own small press, Red Kite Press, notably the poetry collection Four Women, concluding with the poem sequence “Ouroboros” by Guelph’s Marianne Micros, and three story cycles by George Elliott finishing with Sand Gardens on First Beach, containing cover art by Guelph’s Ron Shuebrook. Tim’s newest edited collection, published in 2025 by Guernica Editions of Toronto, is Thank You for Visiting: Essays on Alice Munro’s Work III. He has five new books underway, four at or about to be submitted to their expected or possible publishers, and a fifth, the first comprised entirely of his own essays, contracted to follow.
