Marian's novels are historical fiction of an imagined world, one that is close to Britain, Northern Europe, and Rome, but isn't any of them. Her short stories - either in anthologies or her own collection - range from urban fantasy to historical fiction, slice-of-life to climate fiction. When not leading writing groups, editing, coaching and occasionally formatting for other writers, Marian's working on her eighth novel, An Unwise Prince, part of a planned duology set in the same world as her previous books, but a few centuries later. In between all this, she goes birding.
