Nathan Lawr
Author
Nathan Lawr grew up behind a chainsaw factory in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. In addition to being a historian, technical writer, and poet, he is a renowned drummer and songwriter with a lengthy discography, having come up in Toronto's indie rock renaissance of the early 2000s alongside Feist, Constantines, and Broken Social Scene. He brings a drummer's sensibility to his poems: percussive, boisterous, and innately rhythmic. His poems are ricochets and reflections of the world through imagery, play, and absurdism. Dylan’s Tarantula, Lee’s Alligator Pie, Mary Oliver, Basho, Gregory Corso, Emily Berry, Ted Hughes influence playful collisions of meanings and mash-ups, creating heartfelt stories of heartbreak, passion, music, and activism. His work has appeared in Word Taffy, the Dalhousie Review, Poetries in English and Toothcut Journal.
